Oistins is one of the most popular attractions in Barbados. On a Friday evening, from around 6 pm onwards, hundreds of locals and visitors congregate here to enjoy freshly cooked fish, sample local rum and enjoy Caribbean music. The food is cheap–around $7.50 per plate, including fish, salad, macaroni pie, sweet potato, rice and peas. Buy some rum or a beer at one of the rum shops, find a seat at a picnic bench, listen as music fills the air, get up and dance if you hear a song you like, and enjoy the experience. Music is geared toward the older generation at one end, while at the other end the music is more up-to-date, from disco through to hip-hop.
